Peatland Restoration

The first stage of peatland restoration work at Kingsdale head has been to install dams and sediment traps to restore a natural water table on site. In doing so we hope to create the conditions for healthy blanket bog habitat including the all important water holding, carbon storing sphagnum moss. These healthy habitats will protect the peat soils and large carbon store and in the long run begin to sequester carbon again.
